Festivals and Events

For a small town, Grant-Valkaria holds a lot of events and festivals. All highlight country living at its best and foster community spirit and volunteerism. Come join us!

Grant-Valkaria Day is held each year to celebrate the Town's incorporation. Music, BBQ, local artists, local civic groups, children's fishing tournament, games, and bounce houses are all part of the festivities. Grant-Valkaria Day is held at the Grant-Valkaria Community Park, 1449 Valkaria Road, from 10am-3pm, and is free to residents of Grant-Valkaria. The date will be posted as the event gets closer.

BBQ Fest is held the first weekend in April and is sponsored by Toys for Kids, Inc. Proceeds go to support the Toys for Kids toy drive. BBQ teams compete for awards in chicken, pork, and rib categories with additional awards for Q-Fest Backyard Amateur King of BBQ and Q-Fest Backyard Runner-up King Amateur of BBQ.

Red Ribbon 5K is sponsored by Project Response. The event is held at 8am the first Saturday in November at 4580 1st Street, Grant-Valkaria, FL 32949. Autumn Classic In-Shore Fishing Tournament has been held at the Treasure Coast Marina in Grant-Valkaria for the last 16 years. 2016 marked the Centennial of the marina property which has housed a fishing related industry since 1916, helping to keep Grant-Valkaria a fishing and boating community for the past 100 years.

Christmas Tree Lighting is held on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The Town sets up a Christmas Tree at the Grant-Valkaria Community Park located at 1449 Valkaria Rd. Town Hall is decorated in Christmas spirit and Town residents attending the tree lighting get an ornament on which they sign their name and date to hang on the tree. Every ornament is saved for the next year's tree. There are homemade cookies and hot cocoa to enjoy as Christmas music plays while waiting for Santa to arrive by fire truck for pictures. Just at sundown, the children pull the magic switch which turns on the tree lights. It has become a very popular free small-town event that everyone enjoys.

Grant Seafood Festival The Grant Seafood Festival, organized by the Grant Community Club has been held every year in late February or early March since 1966. In 1968, then U.S. Vice-President Hubert Humphrey visited the Seafood Festival while campaigning for his 1968 presidential bid. The proceeds go towards college scholarships for local children, as well as summer break activities for the community's children.

The famous festival offers free admission, free parking, over 125 crafters exhibiting, live continuous entertainment, along with a scrumptious menu of succulent seafood. What sets this seafood festival apart from others is that it runs through a 100% volunteer effort. The total commitment of the community and all our volunteers makes the Grant Seafood Festival a time honored tradition unlike any other.

All proceeds from the Grant Seafood Festival go back into the community.Projects include the Grant Seafood Festival Scholarship Fund, Grant Community Library, Grant Historical House and The Grant Community Center.

Pioneer Fish Fry The Grant Historical House (Bensen House) Annual Pioneer Fish Fry is held in late March. The delicious food includes a plate of fried fish, turnip greens, cheese grits, hush puppies, bakebeans, and cole slaw. This also includes your dessert and drink. The Grant Historical House is located at 5795 South US Highway 1 in Grant-Valkaria. The proceeds from the fish fry go towards maintenance of the Bensen House.
